Fuel Surcharge Increase (04/05/2006)

British Airways World Cargo today announced an increase to its fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be GBP 0.40/kg / USD 0.60/kg / EUR 0.60/kg, with effect from 18th May 2006.

The fuel surcharge increase follows a second consecutive week that the fuel index has been above the level 12 threshold. The index was developed by BA World Cargo to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges. It is updated on a weekly basis and posted under surcharges on the British Airways World Cargo website.

Chris Bosworth, General Manager Commercial Development, said: "In a global market where yields are under considerable pressure, we simply cannot afford to absorb the increasing cost of fuel. Therefore, it is necessary for our fuel surcharge to be increased for the second time in as many weeks in line with our fuel index."
